Document Type, Page order and Layout

After creating a new document category, you will need to specify the Document Type, the Page Organization and Page Layout for the documents that belong to that category.

How to Specify the Document Type

For example, you might create a new document category called "Shipping Note" with a Document Type of "Shipping Note" and a Page Organization of "Generic". This will help KAPTO to better understand and classify documents that fall under this category, making it easier to organise and process them efficiently.

Use the following steps to add Document Type:

  1. Navigate to Management > Categories menu in the left Panel;
  1. Click the plus
  1. button to add a new Document Type.

  1. Add Name and Description in the displayed pop-up window.
  1. Click the Save Changes button.

  1. The newly created document category is added to the Document Type list.

With these steps, the new document type is successfully added and associated with the KAPTO model, enabling efficient and effective document categorisation.

Page Organization

Document Type and Page Organisation are subcategories of the Document Category.

  1. Click on the plus sign of the Page Organization section.

  1. Fill in the Name and Description of the new Page Organization.

  1. Click the Save Changes button.

Note: In KAPTO, the Total Number of Pages field specifies the total number of pages for the organization being created.

Page Layout in KAPTO

Page Layout allows you to detect a document’s first and last page. This is particularly useful when dealing with lengthy documents containing multiple pages. By identifying the first and last page, you can ensure that your KAPTO model is trained to correctly classify the entire document.

Use the following steps to add Page Layout:

  1. Click the plus
  1. button to add a new Page Layout.

  1. Fill in the Name and Description fields to mark the first page as "FirstPage". This tells the system that this is the first page of the document and should be treated as such.

  1. Click the Save Changes button.

  1. Once you have marked the first page, you can repeat the procedure for the last page by filling in the Name and Description fields with "LastPage". This will tell the system that this is the final page of the document, and it should not look for any further pages beyond this point.

  1. Click the Save Changes button.

Note: There are cases where detecting a document’s First and Last Page is unnecessary when you need to split between different document types.in this case, Kapto is able to split based on document type recognition.

The main scope of the First-Last Page option is to allow Kapto to separate uploaded documents of the same type (i.e. Shipping notes or Custom Bills) when you have multiple documents in a unique file, each with the same or different number of pages.
